Systems Integration Prototype Engineer (2020-3000-2465)


The System Integrator (SI) will support the Sponsor in provide technical direction to project teams of developers and data scientists who build prototypes and web-based applications in cloud based environments. The SI will provide both strategic (product roadmaps) and tactical (decomposing, scheduling, and monitoring sprint work in JIRA). This position works closely with the leadership team to generate shared understanding of technical work and to make tough tradeoffs about scope, schedule and quality.

Candidates must already possess a current and active TS/SCI with Poly clearance to be considered for this position.


  • Serve as a technical delivery manager in preparing, documenting, analyzing, and reviewing software requirements for a development team responsible for the development, test, and installation of the system.
  • Interacting with multiple stakeholders to assess and understand the requirements to ensure that user stories are consistent and applicable across all services.
  • Managing and verifying requirements, capturing detailed descriptions of user needs and service functionality to ensure the project team has clear, consistent, and testable requirements (minimum value increments (MVls) documented.
  • Analyzing and studying complex system requirements.
  • Analyzing functional business applications for functional activities.
  • Developing block diagrams and logic flow charts, as required.
  • Perform requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications, as required.
  • Assist with strategic systems planning, business information planning, and business workflow analysis.
  • Analyze user needs, develop user stories and write test cases and test scenarios based on the acceptance criteria defined for the user story, as required.
  • Address problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms.
  • Perform as part of an agile team, utilizing Kanban and Scrum best practices.
  • Collaborate frequently with other team members.



  • Prior experience in writing RFPs or responding to RFPs with a proposal
  • Experience in Microsoft Office products such as EXCEL, Word and Powerpoint
  • Experience showing ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
  • Experience showing flexibility to cope with a changing environment and short deadlines
  • Experience in planning and organizing work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both oral and written)
  • Demonstrated experience performing facilitation with groups to ensure capturing work processes and workflows
  • Exceptional communication and familiarity with Sponsor’s environment at both project level and executive audiences
  • Broad understanding of Sponsor’s acquisition activities and protocols
  • Self-starter and team player
  • Solid project management skills (e.g. planning, tracking, and reporting)
  • Experience developing and interfacing with APls, particularly REST APls using AJAX
  • Experience developing in Amazon Web services. environments
  • Experience with SQL
  • Requires a minimum of 8 years with BS/BA or 6 years with MS/MA or 3 years with PhD.


  • Experience with Java (v8 or later)
  • Experience interfacing with languages and tools for big data such as R, Python, Hive, or Pig, particularly for NLP or Machine Learning (ML).
  • Experience programming web applications in HTML, CSS and JavaScript using Node, React, or Angular (v2 or later).
  • Demonstrated past professional experience establishing NiFi data flows
  • Demonstrated past professional experience in System Administration, particularly in Amazon Web services environments
  • Demonstrated past professional experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana (ELK) or Solr


  • S. or B.A. degree in computer science, engineering, information security, data science, or a related information technology discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Requires a minimum of 8 years with BS/BA or 6 years with MS/MA or 3 years with PhD.
