(2019-3000-2466) Systems Engineer (Prototyping)

Overview

The System Engineer will support the Sponsor in providing a labs-to-factory-to-enterprise pipeline of data services, analytics, and development environments in support of mission. This includes conditioning non-standard, non-enterprise data with OCR, information extraction, and indexing, developing insights with techniques such as for Natural Language Processing (NLP), and then exposing the results through ad hoc technical reports, APls and web applications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Candidates must already possess a current and active TS/SCI with Poly clearance to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Defining requirements and assist in building web-based prototypes to conduct ad-hoc quantitative analysis.
  • Partnering with a senior data scientist to conduct ad hoc quantitative analysis and build web­ based prototypes in cloud based environments.
  • Providing hands-on support and develop prototypes across the stack, which could include cloud­ based operations, ETL, database operations, analytics, front end work, and technology evaluation.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Defining requirements and assist in building web-based prototypes to conduct ad-hoc quantitative analysis.
  • Partnering with a senior data scientist to conduct ad hoc quantitative analysis and build web­ based prototypes in cloud based environments.
  • Providing hands-on support and develop prototypes across the stack, which could include cloud­ based operations, ETL, database operations, analytics, front end work, and technology evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience with the agile development methodology
  • Experience developing and interfacing with APls, particularly REST APls using AJAX
  • Experience developing in Amazon Web services environments
  • Experience with SQL

Preferred:

  • Experience with Java (v8 or later)
  • Experience interfacing with languages and tools for big data such as R, Python, Hive, or Pig, particularly for NLP or Machine Learning (ML).
  • Experience programming web applications in HTML, CSS and JavaScript using Node, React, or Angular (v2 or later).
  • Demonstrated past professional experience establishing NiFi data flows
  • Demonstrated past professional experience in System Administration, particularly in Amazon Web services environments
  • Demonstrated past professional experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana (ELK} or Solr

Education:

  • B.S. or B.A. degree in computer science, engineering, information security, data science, or a related information technology discipline or equivalent experience.
