Accountant II (2020-8000-2341)

Overview

The Accountant II performs a full range of routine to moderately complex financial activities to include: analyzing and interpreting financial information and policies to identify and resolve problems, discrepancies, and errors in financial data and/or finance systems; ensuring the maintenance of data integrity; providing technical assistance to customers to solve a full range of financial problems.

Candidates must already possess a current and active TS/SCI with Poly clearance to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes financial information to identify and resolve routine-to-moderately-complex problems, discrepancies, and errors in financial data and/or finance systems and ensures that data integrity is maintained.
  • Analyzes and reconciles multiple General Ledger accounts to ensure information is up-to-date and accurate and resolves discrepancies found; refers more complex issues to senior technical experts with recommendations for corrective action.
  • Experience working with federal financial statements preparation, analysis and/or federal financial statement audits.
  • Provide briefings to senior program managers.
  • Assists in preparation of financial statements, tax returns, reconciliations and tax documents.
  • Analyzes and tests systems that interface with the accounting system to ensure the integrity of accounting data.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum two (2) years demonstrated professional accounting experience with a strong understanding of the responsibilities associated with financial management, accounting, auditing, and/or fiscal control preferably in the Intelligence Community.

Desired:

  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).
  • Experience with Government’s G200 financial statements.
  • Working knowledge in Working Capital Funds

Experience and Education

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.  Demonstrated progress towards obtaining CPA, Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM).
  • Minimum two (2) years demonstrated professional accounting experience with a strong understanding of the responsibilities associated with financial management, accounting, auditing, and/or fiscal control preferably in the Intelligence Community.
